Not far from the bustling shopping district of Ginza in Tokyo is a branch of Ain Soph- a 100% vegan restaurant establishment that caters to all tastes with their themed locations which all serve a different style of cuisine. Ain Soph Ginza serves up westernized versions of traditional Japanese cooking and is famous for its classy grub. Click below to find out more! It was actually super hard to find this place, not only because there didn't appear to be a sign but also because the downstairs of the restaurant is actually a 'Trueberry'- an offshoot of the Ain Soph brand that serves small desserts and snacks in several locations across the city. I asked the woman behind the sweets and cookies counter if she had heard of Ain Soph and safe to say, we had a giggle. After waiting around 20 minutes for a table (try to book if you're coming here close to lunchtime...) I was offered a table on the third floor with a great view of the side streets of Ginza. To my surprise the menu only consisted of roughly three main dishes although I can only remember two of them- Hayashi rice and a lunch box set which looked delicious but was priced around \3500.... :'D I opted for the Hayashi rice not only because it was the cheaper option (although still around \2000) but because i had tried to make it before and failed miserably after finding a vegan hayashi rice recipe online-I needed to know what real hayashi rice tasted like and i was not disappointed! Next came my dessert. While Trueberry downstairs was serving puddings and tiramisu, i decided to go for the pancakes as it had been a long time since i ordered pancakes anywhere and the cravings were getting serious. As you can see below, they were an absolute work of art and i felt guilty even eating them! They had more of a texture like scones or cakes rather than pancakes but were seriously good and came with a tiny jar of syrup and some soy clotted cream. The amount of fresh fruit that was served alongside them was also a major help in not making me feel bad for scoffing them down so easily... i had afterall just left the gym before coming here... :') I really enjoyed the food here at Ain Soph Giza and i would recommend it to anyone for a special occasion but not for a regular thing. The prices were considerably higher than any vegan restaurant I've ever been to and their menu is small so i think its something to enjoy every no and then as opposed to being your go-to vegan eatery. Nevertheless it as all so delicious and the area is great for just hanging out so i would like to come back again perhaps as a celebration of 500 Instagram followers of something :) Thank you for reading this far and as always if you have any questions, comments or suggestions please feel free to let me know on here or social media. I hope you all enjoy this beautiful sunny weekend here in Tokyo and make if full of delicious vegan treats! Until next time lovelies!
