Nestled in the side streets of bustling Harajuku and Omotesando is this little treasure- Mr. FARMER. While its not a strictly vegan nor a vegetarian operation, the attention paid to their specialized vegan menu makes you wonder why on earth they aren't!

Those who know me well will know that T's is my favorite restaurant in the whole of Tokyo. They have a location inside Tokyo station, Ueno station and also in Jiyugaoka, Meguro, Tokyo. The company 'T's', pronounced 'Tees' is 100% vegan and promotes vegan and plant based eating for the benefit of both health and the wider environment. In fact the company has incorporated veganism into their in-shop marketing and also their interioir design, with cute drawings of animals and facts about veganism decorating the walls at the Tokyo station location. Why do i love this place so much? Keep reading to find out... Only a 3- minute walks from Shibuya station and serving the most delicious vegan naan bread in all of Tokyo is Milan Nataraj. I was so excited to try Indian curry again as while i love Japanese curry, i needed some naan and pakoras in my life again and so decided to pop in one day and see what all the fuss is about. After barely surviving a day wandering around freezing Tokyo, I came across an adorable little vegan falafel stand and cafe called 'Ballon'. Ballon is located in Nakameguro, Tokyo and offers a 100% vegan menu as well as a selection of ice creams, vegan desserts, falafel wraps and salads. The cafe itself appears to be very popular among tourists as it offers delicious foods that can be enjoyed on-the-go so is perfect for those who are not looking to stop too long for a tasty bite. After a long day of meetings and training not far from Tsukiji station, i was desperate for some vegan soul food that would fill my belly and make the long journey home much more bearable and less tummy-growly. I checked out the 'Happy Cow' app and found a typical Japanese ramen joint that apparently had a clearly visible Vegan Option- suffice to say i was suspicious but hopeful, which i have come to believe is the permanent state of mind of vegans everywhere... (': *fist pump of solidarity* Aoyama in general is a bit of a haven for vegans. Most weekends the area hosts Aoyama Farmers Market which sees many local businesses coming together to sell their produce and products. Luckily for us, many of the stalls and stands sell vegan foods, from cakes and cookies to organic fruit and vegetables. Nestled right in the heart of Aoyama (Shibuya) is the vegan restaurant 8ablish. Being only about a 5 minute Walk from Omotesando station and the bustling Harajuku area, this restaurant proved to be a calm and peaceful end to a busy day of shopping! CORI Vegan food stand is an Oasis for tired vegans desiring to escape the busy streets of Harajuku or Omotesando. It is located inside 'Commune 2nd'- a community project aimed at providing local food and drinks and creating a greater sense of sustainability and environment in one of Japan's busiest towns. |
